Dr. Chan is the inventor for 12 granted international and U.S. patents (with an additional U.S. patent scheduled to be issued on Dec. 3, 2024). He is the author of 68 book chapters, journal articles, and peer-reviewed conference papers, which include 32 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) papers. For 46 of the refereed conference papers, he was first author, and 14 of these received “Best Paper.” He has served as a reviewer for 22 peer-reviewed publications, which include 3 IEEE/IET journals and 6 IEEE conference proceedings. He remains a dedicated researcher and is always striving to learn and contribute to society-at-large.
His research interests include, among other areas, Information Science; Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning; Sensor Data Management; Big Data Tools, Techniques, and Analytical Methodologies in Parallel and Distributed Architectures; Spatio-Temporal Data Analysis; Complex Data Visualizations; and Decision Engineering.
